Press Release: Highlights from MIAA State Tennis Tournament
In an action-packed day at the MIAA State Tennis Tournament, several teams advanced in their respective divisions on May 28.
Division I Highlights:
No. 9 Needham, No. 15 Natick, and No. 30 Framingham all achieved convincing victories, securing 5-0 wins against Central Catholic, Shrewsbury, and Brockton, respectively.
Division II Upsets:
No. 28 Westfield staged a remarkable comeback after trailing 2-0 to defeat No. 37 Worcester South 3-2, advancing to the Round of 32 thanks to strong performances in singles and doubles play. Westfield will next face Amherst.
Division III Victories:
No. 5 Belchertown rallied after losing the first match to win 4-1 over No. 28 Whitinsville Christian. Their strong doubles and singles performances propelled them to the Round of 16.
Division IV Results:
No. 12 Lenox narrowly defeated No. 21 Frontier 3-2, highlighted by standout performance from their singles team, maintaining their impressive season record. They will encounter No. 5 Cohasset next.
