CLINTON, MA – A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded Wednesday afternoon as an 8-year-old boy lost his life after being removed from a pond in Clinton. Local police received a call shortly after 2:30 p.m. from the Clinton Housing Authority’s Harborview Apartments on Lakeside Avenue, where the child was reported missing.
Authorities quickly initiated a search, and the boy was subsequently located unresponsive in a nearby pond. Paramedics rushed him to a local hospital, but sadly, he was pronounced dead upon arrival. The incident brought a wave of shock to the community, and the Clinton Police Department, along with the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office, is currently conducting an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
While Mossy Pond is the closest water body to the apartment complex, additional nearby ponds such as South Meadow and Coachlace, as well as the Wachusett Reservoir, were reported in the vicinity.
